Ivory has been SO FUN to watch over the last year. She comes to class super consistenely and is always pushing herself to improve. She even competed for the first time EVER in November’s Cornucopia Cup, and placed 6th out of 20 women. So rad! Can’t wait to see where 2017 takes her!!
How long have you been at CFRE?
A little over a year.
What inspired you to start?
My fiancés brother (who works out/coaches at SODO) had been pushing Luke and I to start, then he signed me up for the SODO Bootcamp last year. I went, and totally loved it! I had always been an athlete and enjoyed the cross-training style workouts, so sticking with CrossFit after the 6-week Bootcamp was an obvious decision.
What makes you stick with it?
I love competing and getting better every day, but what really makes me stick with RE is the awesome community of fellow-athletes and coaches, who are excited to work out and celebrate everyone’s achievements. It is an inspiring community to be a part of. (Also, though… Coach Amanda’s playlists.)
What’s your favorite movement?
Probably deadlifts or back squats, but I also like box jumps and learning to love burpees.
What’s your current health- or fitness-related goal?
My goal is to do strict pullups this year and become more comfortable with cleans.
What do you do for fun?
I love being outdoors and enjoy spending time hiking and camping.
Any advice for newcomers?
You’ll probably feel silly or get frustrated, but just stick with it and ask for help. Everyone has been there and is excited to help you get better.
