This is Seattle. What kind of coffee do you serve?

We serve locally-brewed coffee from Middle Fork Roasters. You can find it in the Clubhouse. Feel free to brew a pot at any time! The coffee is complimentary.

What is the 24/7 Access?

Anytime there isn’t a class you can use the gym like open gym. There is a code to get in, which you’ll be given when you become a member. Come in at any hour to make up a class or work on your own programming. Having 24-hour access is awesome. Email office@crossfitre.com for more info.

Do you have any discounts?

Discounts we offer include:

  • Student discount: Discounted rate and no contract
  • Additional family member discount: You’ll receive 25% off each additional member of a household after the first (with memberships of equal or lesser value).

Getting Started

What is the best way to start?

We offer a few different programs for beginners, so you can learn how to perform movements safely and build confidence!

  1. Start Strong is a 6-week program that runs throughout the year (with 2-week breaks between sessions). Start Strong will teach you a TON, with a focus on barbell work. You will finish feeling like a badass and ready to take on whatever is next!
  2. If the beginner program schedules don’t work for you, we also offer one-on-one intro programming. Email office@crossfitre.com to learn more.

What do all the acronyms mean?

Sometimes it feels like CrossFit has its own language! Here are some common acronyms you’ll see at the gym and online: 1RM – One Rep Max: The weight at which you can only perform one repetition of a movement (e.g., “My back squat 1RM is 180lbs) AMRAP – As Many Reps (or Rounds) As Possible in a specified amount of time EMOM – Every Minute on the Minute PR – Personal Record Rep – Repetition: One performance of an exercise Rx – As prescribed  “Rx” means doing the workout (1) at the prescribed weight/height, (2) for the prescribed number of reps, (3) to the full standards of each movement. Please know it is okay and expected that many of our members do not perform the WODs Rx. If you’re ever unsure, your coach is always the best resource for you to determine whether or not the WOD should be attempted Rx. On our whiteboard you’ll see recommendations for Level 1, Level 2, Rx, and Comp. You can mix-and-match levels, and there is a modification available for EVERY movement! Chat with you coach before the workout to find your best scales. TABATA – Not an acronym! A TABATA is 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest (4 minutes total) WOD – Workout of the Day

What kinds of memberships do you offer?

CrossFit Unlimited gives you access to everything! We also offer Punch Cards if you use CrossFit as a supplement to another fitness program. See all membership options.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel your membership contract, you will pay 50% of the remaining amount owed. If you move more than 10 miles from the gym, or you have a serious illness or injury, we will cancel your membership at no cost. The are multiple reasons for contracts: 1.) It helps us anticipate our monthly and yearly income. 2.) It keeps you committed to fitness and gives us an opportunity to check in with you consistently. 3.) It locks in your rate for the specified amount of time. We do raise rates occasionally, but you’ll be able to finish out your contract before your rate is affected. 4.) You won’t ever hold onto a membership you don’t use, just so you don’t lose your “grandfathered” rate.

Can I put my membership on hold?

We’ll put your contract on hold for a minimum of 2 weeks, and up to 2 months.

Where do I park?

There is 4-hour parking on Rainier in front of the building, and 2-hour parking on the Genesee hill. You can also park on Lucile (the street just above the gym). Note you’ll want to approach the gym from the north. If you’re coming from the south, we recommend taking a left on Alaska, a quick right onto 35th, and then follow the “jog” onto Letitia. This will have you approach the gym from behind. (Much better than taking a u-turn on Rainier!)

Do I need special gear to do Crossfit?

Nope! Just workout clothes you feel comfortable in and a waterbottle. (Don’t worry, we have cups in case you forget one!) Eventually you may want to invest in a pair of specialized shoes; a jump rope you can customize, and other accessories. But you don’t need any of that to get started.

Can I bring a friend to check out the gym? What’s your policy on guests?

We love guests! All Seattleites get 3 free classes. They are welcome to sign up on the kiosk when they come in, or they can sign up early here: CrossFit RE: Columbia City 3 Free

Do I reserve a spot for classes?

Nope! Just show up! Please sign in for every class, using the iPad kiosk or the Triib app. It helps us track who’s coming to class, and helps you track your progress.

How do I stay connected?

Join our Facebook group! This is where we post info, reminders, funny memes that no one else gets, etc. 😉 Send BeckyJo or Darrick a friend request and a message that says, “Add me to the CFRE Group, please!”

Do you have gym rules?

We do! Our rules exist for the sake of your safety, the culture of our community, and the care of our space. This is a special place to be, and we ask that all members respect these rules to maintain that feeling.

  1. Leave your ego at the door.
  2. Don’t drop kettlebells or barbells loaded with 15lb plates or less.
  3. Do not put away equipment or leave until everyone has finished the WOD — instead, cheer each other on!
  4. Once you can squat below parallel, always squat below parallel.
  5. Keep the gym clean. Wipe down your equipment and clean up any bodily fluids.
  6. Don’t stand or walk in someone’s line of sight while they are lifting, especially when lifting at max efforts.
  7.  Show up on time.
  8. Have FUN!
  9. Listen to your coaches and respect your body.
  10. Always remember: Technique, consistency, intensity … in that order!

Can I put on my own music?

When you are using the Clubhouse, you can play anything you want. In class, we use a specific service. You can ask a coach to skip or adjust the music if you just can’t stand it.

How do I buy stuff?

Easiest for us (and for you) is to buy through the kiosk in the gym. To cut down on accounting, we’ll add products to your invoice. We’ll charge you for these items weekly … or if it’s a small amount, it will get charged with your monthly membership fee. Cash is great as well – just give it to the coach and select “paid cash” when you check out on the kiosk! We carry RxBar, FitAid, Driven Nutrition, SFH, and Equip. We also carry apparel and accessories. To purchase on the kiosk, you’ll enter the Store, select your items, and then check out using your name and a custom 4-digit code you created (either using the app, or by logging into your Triib profile on a desktop).

Special Events

Crossfit Open/Friday Night Lights (Feb/March) – Every year, CrossFit HQ puts together a series of workouts called the CrossFit Open. The workouts are scaled for various levels of athlete. It’s a great way to track your progress year over year, compare yourself to others your age and level of experience, and build up gym morale. Our gym hosts a “Friday Night Lights” for each open workout, where you can complete the workout with a group, get cheered on, and celebrate after.
